The short answer: the best review management software for a local business is the one that gets every customer asked for a review automatically, makes it easy to reply to every review, and doesn't lock you into a contract you can't leave. Prices range from $75 a month (NiceJob) to $599 a month and more (Podium Pro), and G2 ratings for the main tools sit between 4.5 and 4.8.
Below are eight tools compared on price, contract terms, G2 rating and what each is best for, followed by what to look for and the red flags to avoid.
A note on fairness: Spokk is our product, and it's on this list. We've tried to be straight about it: prices come from each vendor's own pricing page, or are clearly marked as reported where the vendor doesn't publish them, and ratings are as shown on G2 on 10 to 12 October 2026. Spokk's G2 rating is based on only two reviews, and we say so.

| Tool | Price (October 2026) | Contract | G2 rating | Best for |

How We Compared
We looked at what matters to a local business owner, in this order:
- Getting reviews: does it ask every customer automatically, by text and email, with a direct link? Does it help customers write the review?
- Managing reviews: can you see new reviews in one place, get alerts, and reply quickly?
- Price and terms: what you actually pay for one location and for several, and how long you're locked in.
- Independent ratings: each product's G2 rating and how many reviews it's based on.
- Compliance: whether the tool asks every customer the same way, without features that hide the review link from unhappy customers.
The Tools in Detail
Spokk
Price: from $149 a month, quoted on the features you choose and how many customers you serve each month. No contract; yearly billing with two months free on request. 14-day free trial. HIPAA-covered practices use the Healthcare plan, billed annually from $249 a month. G2: 4.8 from 2 reviews.
What it does well: after each visit, Spokk asks every customer for quick feedback by text or email, and customers can type or speak their answer. Every customer then gets the same invitation to review you on Google, with an AI draft built from their own feedback that they can edit and post themselves. Low ratings reach you straight away. You can also connect your Google Business Profile to see and reply to Google reviews with AI-drafted replies. Loyalty, memberships, referrals and automation are part of the same platform. In Spokk's data, 1.4x more customers click through to the Google review page when the request includes an AI-written draft.
Watch-outs: review monitoring and replies cover Google; Spokk doesn't monitor Yelp, Facebook or social media. And with only two G2 reviews so far, there's less independent feedback to go on than for older tools, so use the free trial.
NiceJob
Price: $75 a month (Starter) or $125 a month (Pro). No contract; 14-day trial. Full pricing breakdown. G2: 4.8 from 422 reviews.
What it does well: simple, automated review requests built for home services and trades, with tools to show reviews on your website and social media. Strong ratings from a large number of reviewers.
Watch-outs: it's designed around service jobs, so businesses with walk-in customers or appointments may find other tools fit better. Compare: NiceJob vs Spokk.
BrightLocal
Price: review monitoring, review requests and review widgets are in the Grow plan: $65 a month for one location billed monthly, or $49 a month billed annually. Lower plans don't include review tools. 14-day free trial, no card needed. G2: 4.6 from 230 reviews.
What it does well: local SEO first: rank tracking, Business Profile audits, citations and listings, with review tools on top. Good value if you want SEO reporting and reviews in one place.
Watch-outs: review requests are one feature among many rather than the focus, and prices rise with the number of locations. Compare: BrightLocal vs Spokk.
GatherUp
Price: $99 a month for one location; $60 per location a month for 2 to 10 locations; 20% off with annual billing. 14-day trial. G2: 4.5 from 50 reviews.
What it does well: combines customer feedback (including NPS-style surveys) with review requests and monitoring, with sensible per-location pricing for small groups.
Watch-outs: fewer G2 reviews than most tools here. Compare: GatherUp vs Spokk.
Grade.us
Price: $99 a month for one location; $60 per location for 2 to 10; agency plans from $400 a month. Free 14-day trial. G2: 4.6 from 143 reviews.
What it does well: white-label review management for agencies that resell it to clients, with review requests, monitoring and reporting under the agency's brand.
Watch-outs: built for agencies first, so a single business may be paying for agency features it won't use.
Podium
Price: Core $399 a month and Pro $599 a month list prices; Signature is custom. Extra charges can include US text-message registration of $5 a month per location. The agreement runs 12 months and renews automatically. Full pricing breakdown. G2: 4.5 from 2,155 reviews.
What it does well: an all-in-one platform for customer messaging, payments, phones and reviews, popular with businesses that run most customer conversations by text.
Watch-outs: the price and the 12-month auto-renewing agreement. If you mainly need reviews, you'll pay for a lot you won't use. Compare: Podium vs Spokk and Podium alternatives.
Birdeye
Price: not published. Reported at roughly $299 to $499 per location a month, depending on the plan. Annual terms with 90 days' notice to cancel. Full pricing breakdown. G2: 4.7 from 4,247 reviews.
What it does well: a large suite covering reviews, listings, messaging, surveys and social media, with strong multi-location reporting and the most G2 reviews of any tool here.
Watch-outs: per-location pricing adds up quickly, and you have to talk to sales to get a price. Compare: Birdeye vs Spokk.
ReviewTrackers
Price: by quote only (plans include Data Only, Starter and Essential). G2: 4.6 from 161 reviews.
What it does well: review monitoring and analytics across many review sites, aimed at multi-location brands that want to understand feedback at scale.
Watch-outs: no public pricing, and its strength is monitoring and analysis rather than getting more reviews. Compare: ReviewTrackers vs Spokk.

Three Types of Review Software
Vendors use the labels loosely, so it helps to know which kind of tool you're looking at.
Review collection tools focus on getting reviews: automated requests by text and email, direct links, reminders, sometimes help writing. Most local businesses get the biggest return here, because most of them don't have enough recent reviews.
Review management platforms add monitoring and replies across several review sites, alerts and reporting.
Reputation management suites go further: social media, listings, messaging, surveys and multi-location reporting, usually with sales-led pricing. See review management vs reputation management for the full difference.
What to Look For
Features that get you more reviews
- Automatic requests after every visit, triggered by a check-in, appointment or completed job, so nobody has to remember
- Text and email, with a direct link to your Google review form
- One reminder for customers who didn't respond
- Help with the writing, such as a short feedback question first or a draft built from the customer's own feedback
- Easy setup with the systems you already use; see Spokk's integrations
Customers are willing when they're asked: in BrightLocal's 2026 survey, 83% of people who were asked to leave a review went on to leave one. The tool's job is to make sure every customer gets asked.
Features that save time
- New-review alerts, so negative reviews don't sit for a week
- Replying from one place, ideally with AI-drafted replies you edit
- Low-rating alerts from feedback, so you can call an unhappy customer the same day
Nice to have
- Review widgets for your website
- Sentiment analysis across many reviews
- Multi-location dashboards and reporting
Red flags
- Settings that hide the review link from unhappy customers. Showing the Google link only above a certain rating is review gating, which Google bans and the FTC says could violate the FTC Act. Our guide to Google's review gating policy explains the rules.
- "Review generation" with no real customer behind it. Tools that write and post reviews themselves produce fake reviews, which the FTC's rule bans.
- Rewards for reviews. Google bans incentives for any review.
- Long, auto-renewing contracts with long notice periods, before you've tested the tool.
How to Choose for Your Business
One location, mainly need more Google reviews: a review collection tool. Spokk, NiceJob or GatherUp; compare how each asks customers and what it costs at your volume.
One location that also wants local SEO tracking: BrightLocal's Grow plan covers both.
Two to ten locations: look at per-location pricing carefully. GatherUp and Grade.us charge $60 per location; Spokk quotes on total customer volume rather than per location.
Many locations or a brand team: Birdeye, Podium or ReviewTrackers, if you need their wider suites and reporting and have the budget.
An agency managing clients: Grade.us is built for white-label resale; see also how agencies sell review management.
Industry-specific shortlists: dentists, restaurants, home services, auto repair shops and law firms.
Questions to ask in a demo
- What exactly do I pay for my number of locations and customers, including messaging fees?
- How long is the contract, does it renew automatically, and how much notice do I need to give?
- Does every customer get the same review request, or are there rating thresholds?
- Which review sites can I monitor and reply to from the dashboard?
- How does it connect to the system where my customer visits are recorded?
- Can I try it with real customers before paying?
FAQs
What is the best review management software for a small business?
It depends on what you need most. If your main problem is getting more Google reviews, choose a tool that asks every customer automatically by text and email; Spokk, NiceJob and GatherUp focus on that. If you also want local SEO tracking, BrightLocal combines both. If you want messaging, payments and phones in one platform and have the budget, Podium and Birdeye are all-in-one suites.
How much does review management software cost?
As of October 2026: NiceJob $75 or $125 a month; BrightLocal's review tools from $65 a month for one location; GatherUp and Grade.us $99 a month for one location; Spokk from $149 a month; Podium $399 or $599 a month list; Birdeye unpublished but reported at about $299 to $499 per location a month; ReviewTrackers by quote.
Do I need review management software if I only have one location?
If you serve more customers than you can ask by hand every day, yes. The main value for a single location is asking every customer automatically after their visit, so reviews keep coming on busy days. If you only see a few customers a week, asking personally with a direct link may be enough.
Is it legal to use AI to help customers write reviews?
The FTC's rule bans fake reviews, including AI-generated reviews that don't reflect a real customer's genuine experience. Helping a real customer put their own experience into words is different, but keep it clean: the draft should come only from what the customer told you, they should be free to change it or write their own, and they post it themselves. Google's policy also says businesses shouldn't try to influence the rating or the contents of a review.
Can review software remove negative reviews?
No legitimate software can remove genuine negative reviews. Good tools help you reply quickly and well, alert you to unhappy customers so you can follow up, and let you report reviews that break the platform's rules. Anyone promising to remove negative reviews is offering something that breaks Google's policies or the law.
Should I sign an annual contract?
Only after you've tested the tool and the saving is worth the lock-in. Check the renewal terms and notice period: Podium's agreement runs 12 months and renews automatically, and Birdeye's terms require 90 days' notice to cancel. Several tools, including Spokk and NiceJob, run month to month.
What happens to my reviews if I cancel?
Your reviews stay on Google, Yelp, Facebook and the other sites where customers posted them. You lose the software's dashboard, automation, reports and any website widgets, so export anything you need before cancelling.
