What is smart skip logic and why does it matter?
Smart skip logic means each step in the sequence checks what the client has already done before sending. For example: the review nudge only sends if the client submitted feedback — clients who haven't filled in the form don't get asked for a public review. The referral ask skips if the client hasn't submitted feedback. This prevents awkward, out-of-context messages and makes every touchpoint feel personal and relevant.
Do I need to do anything after each appointment to trigger the automation?
No. Once you set up the automation, it runs automatically after every appointment for every client. You add the client's phone number to Spokk (or import your client list), and Spokk handles the rest. No daily admin, no manual sending.
Can I customise the timing and message for each step?
Yes. You can change the timing of any step (e.g., send the feedback request 4 hours after the appointment instead of 2), edit the wording of every SMS, and add or remove steps entirely. The defaults are optimised based on what works across hundreds of salons — but you know your clients, so you can adjust.
Will my clients find it annoying to receive multiple messages?
The sequence is designed to be light and well-timed, not spammy. Each message is triggered by what the client did (or didn't do) — so a client who immediately submits feedback and posts a review only gets two messages total, not four. Clients who don't engage get the full sequence, but the messages are spaced and personal in tone. And clients can always reply STOP to opt out.
What phone number do the SMS messages come from?
For US and Canadian salons, Spokk provisions a dedicated toll-free number during your trial period, and a dedicated number tied to your salon once you're on a paid plan. Your clients see a consistent number for all Spokk messages. For salons outside the US and Canada, you can connect your own Twilio number.
Can I set up different automations for different services or stylists?
Currently Spokk runs one active automation per location. The messages are personalised with the client's name, their stylist's name, and the specific services they received — so they feel tailored even from a single sequence. Service-specific automation sequences are on the roadmap.
