Frequently asked questions
Who can I send to?
Only contacts who have explicitly opted into marketing SMS. Customers opt in at check-in or when they sign up to your loyalty or membership program. Contacts who reply STOP are removed automatically and forever.
How many credits does each message use?
A standard SMS (160 characters or fewer, including the opt-out line) uses 1 credit per recipient. A 2-segment SMS (up to 320 characters) uses 2. The composer shows a live SMS counter and warns you before you spend.
How many campaign credits do I get?
Starter includes 500 SMS campaign credits, Growth includes 1,500, and Pro includes 4,500. These are included with your subscription as a one-time grant when you sign up. When you run out you can buy top-up packs at any time, and top-up credits never expire.
How fast are messages delivered?
Spokk throttles delivery to a carrier-safe rate. Most campaigns finish sending within a few minutes. The composer shows an estimated delivery time before you hit send.
Can I personalize messages?
Yes. Use the {name} tag and Spokk replaces it with each contact's first name on send. The composer warns you if a long name will push a message into 2 segments and cost extra credits.
What is the send cooldown?
A global setting that prevents a contact from receiving a campaign too soon after their last SMS from you. Set it to 1, 3, 7, or 14 days. Stops you accidentally spamming a customer who just got an automated message.
Do I need Twilio?
For businesses outside Sri Lanka, yes. SMS Campaigns runs on the same Twilio sender Spokk uses for automation, so if you have automation set up, campaigns are ready to go. Sri Lanka businesses use Spokk's built-in local SMS provider.
