How does Spokk's referral program work for auto repair shops?+
Every customer in Spokk automatically gets their own unique referral code. Twenty days after their visit, Spokk sends them an SMS with their code and a shareable message you customize. When a new customer mentions that code, name, or phone number at check-in, the referral is logged. You set the rewards for both sides. When the referral is confirmed via check-in, an SMS reward notification fires automatically for the referring customer.
How do customers share their referral code?+
They share it however they normally communicate with friends — a text message, a WhatsApp, word of mouth, or they tell the new customer to just mention their name or phone number at drop-off. The referring customer can also pass their actual referral code. Spokk supports all three redemption methods: code, name, or phone number.
What rewards can I offer through the referral program?+
You define the rewards entirely. Common options for auto repair: a discount on the next service for the referrer, a free oil change after 3 referrals, a dollar credit for both the referrer and the new customer. You set a description and terms, and those appear in the SMS notification. Spokk handles the tracking and notification — you deliver the reward.
Is it a dual-reward program?+
Yes. You set a reward for the referrer (the existing customer who shared their code) and a separate reward for the referee (the new customer they brought in). Both are fully configurable. Dual rewards consistently outperform single-sided rewards because they give the existing customer a concrete incentive to refer.
How is a referral confirmed?+
A referral moves from pending to confirmed when the new customer checks in at your shop (via QR scan) and the referral code, name, or phone number is matched in Spokk. Staff can also manually confirm a referral from the dashboard if needed. Confirmation requires an actual visit, not just a signup.
Can I see which customers are generating the most referrals?+
Yes. Your Spokk dashboard shows all referral activity: who referred whom, referral status (pending, confirmed, redeemed), total referrals per customer, and which customers are your top referrers. This lets you identify your best advocates.
Does the referral program integrate with the loyalty program?+
Yes. When a new customer is enrolled via referral, they enter the loyalty program at visit 1. Their first check-in counts toward their loyalty visit count. They also enter the full automation sequence — feedback request, review nudge, referral ask — like any other customer.
How are fraudulent referrals prevented?+
Spokk checks that the referred phone number hasn't already been referred by anyone at your shop. The same phone number can't claim a referral twice. Referrals require an actual check-in before they're confirmed. Flagged referrals can be reviewed and approved or rejected from your dashboard.
When does the referral SMS go out?+
By default, the referral SMS goes out 20 days after the customer's visit. This timing is intentional — enough time has passed for the positive experience to be settled, but the relationship is still fresh. You can adjust this timing in the Spokk flow builder.
Can I set an expiry on referral codes?+
Yes. You can configure how long a referral code remains active. If you want to run a time-limited referral campaign — for example, referrals must be completed within 60 days — you set that window and Spokk handles expiry automatically.
Is there a limit to how many people a customer can refer?+
No limit by default. Each customer can refer as many new customers as they want, and each successful referral earns them a reward. Your best word-of-mouth advocates should never be capped.
