Spokk for accounting firms

Let your clients tell the next one why they trust you

People choose an accountant on trust, and they look for it in reviews. After each return or engagement, Spokk asks every client how it went, sends every answer to you, and invites every one of them to review your firm on Google with a draft written from their own words.

Clearview Accounting made a stressful year simple. They always answered my emails the same day, explained everything in plain English and had everything done well before the deadline.

How it works

What happens after every engagement

Clients only see you a few times a year, so each engagement is your chance to earn a review. Asking every client when the work is delivered turns quiet satisfaction into visible trust.

  1. Step 1

    When the work is delivered

    The engagement goes into Spokk

Add the client when their return is filed or the engagement closes, upload a list after a busy week, or send them from your CRM through HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Zoho or our API.

  2. Step 2

    The next day

    Spokk asks how it went

A text or email with a short form. If they don't answer, one reminder follows the next day.

  3. Step 3

    Right after they answer

They are invited to review you

Every client gets the same Google review invitation, with a draft written from their own feedback.

  4. Step 4

    In the weeks after

    Clients come back

Clients who feel looked after come back every year and recommend you to the people they know.

When to ask an accounting client

The day after the return is filed or the engagement is delivered, not in the middle of it. In tax season, upload the week's filed returns on Friday and every client is asked the following week. Set how long Spokk waits before asking the same client again so annual clients hear from you once a year.

The texts

Short, friendly texts your clients will actually open

A short, professional text or email from your firm's name with a link to a one-minute form. Nothing about the client's finances, ever.

  • Every text carries your business name, so nobody wonders who it is from.
  • Sent between 8am and 9pm in your time zone, unless you choose other hours.
  • Opt-outs are handled for you: anyone who replies STOP is never texted again.
  • Clients with no mobile number get the same messages by email.

Return was right in the end, but I had to chase twice for an update in March.

Google reviews

Reviews that answer "can I trust them with my money?"

Spokk invites every client after their feedback with a draft built from what they wrote, so your reviews talk about responsiveness, clarity and peace of mind.

  • Every client gets the same invitation, whatever they rated. Asking only happy clients is review gating, which Google does not allow.
  • The draft only uses what they told you, and they can change any of it.
  • They post it themselves, from their own Google account. Spokk never posts reviews for anyone.
  • Once you confirm a client has left a Google review, Spokk stops asking them.

Google

Finally an accountant who explains things without jargon.

Suggested reply

Thank you, Karen. We are glad it all made sense. We look forward to working with you again next year.

Post replyEdit

Reply to every review in a minute

Connect your Google Business Profile and every review appears in Spokk, old and new. Spokk suggests a reply that fits what the reviewer said, you edit it if you like, and post it without opening Google.

Keep replies general: never confirm someone is a client or mention their return, even if they did. Spokk suggests short, general replies, and you approve every one.

See it live

Try it the way your clients will

This is a real Spokk form, exactly what your customer sees on their phone after a visit. Rate a pretend visit and see the review Spokk writes from your answer. It takes about 30 seconds.

  1. 1Pick a form and give the visit a few stars.
  2. 2Write a line about it, or skip that.
  3. 3Watch the review draft appear, ready to copy.

It is a demo business, so try anything. Your own form carries your name, logo, colours and questions.

Add clients one at a time, by the week in tax season, or from your CRM.

One client at a time

Add the client in the staff portal when their work is delivered.

A week of filed returns

Upload a spreadsheet of clients whose returns were filed this week, and Spokk asks them all.

Your CRM

If your CRM or practice software can reach HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Zoho or our API, finished engagements flow in on their own.

Good to know for accounting firms

Never mention a client's return in a reply

Tax preparers are restricted from disclosing tax return information without the client's consent (Internal Revenue Code section 7216), and confidentiality applies to accountants generally. Reply in general terms only, and never confirm details someone mentions about their own return.

Check your rules before paying for referrals

Referral fees can come with disclosure duties under the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and your state board's rules. Spokk's setup for accounting firms uses testimonials and reviews, not referral rewards, unless you choose otherwise.

FAQ

Questions accounting firms ask

How do accounting firms get more Google reviews?

Ask every client when their return is filed or the engagement is delivered, and make it effortless. Spokk texts or emails each client the next day and invites every one of them to review your firm on Google with a draft written from their own feedback.

Is it appropriate for an accounting firm to ask for reviews?

Asking every client the same way, with no reward and no pressure, is what Google allows. Keep replies general and never mention anything about a client's finances or return. Your state board may have its own advertising rules, so check them if you are unsure.

Can we ask clients by email instead of text?

Yes. Spokk sends the same short request by email to clients without a mobile number, or to everyone if you prefer.

Can we ask all of this week's filed returns at once?

Yes. Upload a spreadsheet of clients whose returns were filed and Spokk asks each of them, with one reminder if they do not answer.

How much does Spokk cost for an accounting firm?

From $149 a month, billed monthly with no contract. Your price depends on the features you choose and how many clients you serve each month. Sign up free for 14 days, no card needed.
