Send feedback and Google review requests from GoHighLevel

Point a GoHighLevel webhook at Spokk and every new contact, or any workflow step you choose, starts your Spokk follow-up: a feedback request by text or email, then a Google review invitation. It takes a few minutes and works in any sub-account.

How it works

GoHighLevel sends Spokk the contact’s name, phone number and email whenever your chosen event happens. Use a native webhook if every new contact should be asked, or a workflow webhook action for a specific moment, such as an appointment marked Showed or a tag being added. Spokk then runs the follow-up you set up.

What you need

  • A GoHighLevel sub-account you can edit
  • A Spokk account (the free trial works)
  • Your Spokk API key, shown on the GoHighLevel page under Integrations in Spokk

Choose what starts the follow-up

Contact Created

Every new contact in the sub-account gets your follow-up, with no workflow needed.

Appointment Status Changed

Set the status to Showed so only people who actually came in are asked.

Tag Added

Add a tag such as "job complete" from a pipeline, form or staff member, and that contact gets the follow-up.

What happens after the trigger

Every customer goes through the same steps. Nothing about the follow-up depends on what you expect them to say.

  1. 1

    Spokk finds or adds the customer

    Matched on phone number or email, so repeat customers keep their history in Spokk.

  2. 2

    Your follow-up starts

    The sequence you set up in Spokk runs, for example a feedback request by text two hours later. A cooldown stops one customer getting the sequence twice in a row.

  3. 3

    Everyone gets the same review invitation

    After they give feedback, the customer gets a link to your Google review page with an optional draft written from their own words. They edit it and post it themselves.

  4. 4

    Loyalty and referrals stay up to date

    If you run Spokk loyalty or referrals, the visit is counted and the customer gets their referral code.

Two ways to connect

Your API key and a ready-made webhook URL are on the GoHighLevel page under Integrations in Spokk, with a copy button for each.

Option A: native webhook (simplest)

Best when every new contact should get the follow-up. GoHighLevel signs each request, and Spokk checks the signature before acting on it.

  1. 1

    In your GoHighLevel sub-account, go to Settings > Integrations > Webhooks

  2. 2

    Click Add New Webhook and paste your Spokk webhook URL

    The URL includes your API key. Tick Contact Created.

    https://www.spokk.io/api/integrations/gohighlevel/webhook?api_key=YOUR_SPOKK_API_KEY
  3. 3

    Save

    GoHighLevel now sends each new contact to Spokk automatically.

Option B: workflow webhook action (more control)

Best for a specific moment, like an appointment marked Showed. Your API key is kept out of the URL.

  1. 1

    Store your API key in GoHighLevel’s Credential Manager

    Go to Settings > Integrations > Credential Manager > Add New. Set the type to API Key, name it Spokk API Key and paste your key. GoHighLevel sends it with each request as an X-API-Key header.

  2. 2

    Open Automation > Workflows and create or open a workflow

  3. 3

    Set the trigger

    Common choices are Contact Created, Appointment Status Changed (status Showed) or Tag Added.

  4. 4

    Add a Webhook action

    Click + Add Action, choose Webhook, set the method to POST, paste the URL below and select your Spokk API Key credential.

    https://www.spokk.io/api/integrations/gohighlevel/webhook
  5. 5

    Set the body to JSON and paste this template

    {
      "id": "{{contact.id}}",
      "first_name": "{{contact.first_name}}",
      "last_name": "{{contact.last_name}}",
      "phone": "{{contact.phone}}",
      "email": "{{contact.email}}"
    }
  6. 6

    Save and publish the workflow

More than one location

Spokk prices on customers, not locations, so you can route every location through one sub-account.

One location per webhook

Pick a location on the GoHighLevel page in Spokk and its ID is added to the webhook URL, so everything from that webhook goes to that location.

Route each contact from one workflow

Add a contact custom field called Spokk_Location_ID (the location’s ID) or Spokk_Location_Name (for example "Downtown") and include it in the JSON body. Spokk routes each contact by it.

What Spokk receives

  • Only what the webhook sends: the contact’s name, phone number, email and GoHighLevel contact ID.
  • Native webhooks are checked against GoHighLevel’s cryptographic signature before Spokk acts on them.
  • Workflow webhooks carry your API key in a header from GoHighLevel’s encrypted Credential Manager, not in the URL.
  • You can regenerate your Spokk API key at any time, which stops any webhook using the old one.

Good to know

  • Each customer GoHighLevel sends to Spokk counts toward the monthly customers your Spokk price is based on.
  • Contacts need a phone number for text messages or an email address for email requests.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spokk a GoHighLevel marketplace app?

+
No. Spokk connects through GoHighLevel’s own webhooks, which every sub-account can use, so there is nothing to install from the marketplace.

GoHighLevel can already ask for reviews. Why add Spokk?

+
Spokk asks for feedback first and then invites every customer to review, with an optional draft written from what they told you, which makes a review much easier to write. It also runs loyalty check-ins, paid memberships and tracked referrals from the same customer record.

Which option should I use?

+
Use the native webhook if every new contact should be asked. Use a workflow webhook action if you only want to ask after a specific event, like an appointment marked Showed, or if you prefer to keep your API key out of the URL.

Can agencies use this across client sub-accounts?

+
Yes. Each sub-account uses the API key of the Spokk account it belongs to, so every client’s customers go to their own Spokk account.

Can I control when customers are asked?

+
Yes, by choosing the trigger, such as an appointment marked Showed. Choose the moment, not the customer: Google’s review policy does not allow asking only the customers you expect to be happy, and Spokk sends every customer the same review invitation.
